Goodnight, sweet Prince...
The internet; today is a sad day.
Today is the day that, after 8 years, the Xbox Live service for original Xbox games dies.
For us console gamers, it's a real blow. The Xbox brought to us our first true taste of how amazing online gaming was, and oh how we loved it...Eight years and countless innumerable lulz later, we bury a legend.
I first picked up XBL in the spring of 2006, shortly after receiving my shiny new Crystal Xbox as a Christmas present, and realising that there's only so much you can get out of Halo 2 when you have no actual friends to speak of. Xbox Live changed all that.
Sure, it may seem a little gay; I'd be the first to admit that, but if I'm being totally honest with you, I've met some great friends on Xbox. Guys who I hope will be my buddies long after the current service dies its death, whenever that may happen. And for that, Microsoft: Cheers.
So, gamers; whether you be PS3 Fanboys, Xboxers, Wiiaboos, Nintendixx or PC 1337squaddies. Take some time today to raise a glass in memory to Halo, Crimson Skies, Spinter Cell, Ghost Recon 2 and all the other titles that raised you better than your dumbass parents did. Alternatively, join me and the UCAG team in playing a few final games of Halo 2 and giving the old fucker the Viking Funeral it truely deserves.
